After receiving a Masters in Industrial Design from the Pratt Institute, Harry Allen first started working for Prescriptives Cosmetics, designing countertop and point-of-purchase displays. He later opened a studio and started producing a line of furniture called Living Systems which was shown at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in 1993. He now designs furniture for several clients, including Habitat, Dune, and Magis.
He has successfully designed for the interior as well, including several stores, galleries, and nightclubs in the States and Japan. Allen has designed glassware for Steuben, picture frames for Umbra, and make-up packaging for Aveda. Upstart design company, Areaware has him to thank for some of their most popular items in the Reality line.
Allen has won several awards for packaging design, innovative lighting, and interior design.
